Cardiff vs Ipswich Under 21’s Preview

Cardiff City’s U21 team will face Ipswich Town on Friday, March 17th, 2023 at 11am kick-off in the Welsh capital. The previous encounter between the two sides ended in a 4-1 defeat for the Bluebirds, and Darren Purse’s team will be looking for an immediate reaction to their disappointing performance.

Cameron Antwi scored a late goal for Cardiff City in the previous match, but it was not enough to secure a result as the hosts claimed all three points. Ipswich Town’s win elevated them to the seventh position in the PDL Group South table, while the Bluebirds dropped to fourth place after being overtaken by Reading.

Having won ten matches and drawn two from their 22 league fixtures, Cardiff City will be eager to finish strong before a two-and-a-half-week break ahead of their next PDL match. The U21s Manager, Darren Purse, expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance in the previous match and highlighted the need for improvement.

“We definitely need to learn from the result on Tuesday. We played with a lack of confidence and a lack of energy, really. We need to be better, in and out of possession,” Purse said.

Purse also mentioned that the team is benefiting from the return of several players from injury, which has created healthy competition for places within the squad. He emphasized the importance of consistent performances and highlighted that every opportunity to play is a chance for the players to impress and secure new contracts or earn a starting spot for the next season.

The attendance for the match on Friday morning will be free for those who wish to attend, and Cardiff City TV will be livestreaming the game on the Club’s official YouTube channel.
